Blackwood Lions have been around since 1965. Lions is the world’s largest service organization and  Blackwood  Lions is the Hills largest charity. You’ve probably eaten their Christmas Cakes or been to their Saturday morning Bargain Centre at Eden Hills (Colebrook Drive off Shepherds Hill Road).  So far the Centre has returned to the community goods and money worth more than $10 million.

Blackwood Photographic Club of SA Inc was established in June 1983 and since then has provided annual programmes including competitions, workshops, outings, field trips and guest speakers for our members. Anyone interested in improving their photography, be it using digital or film cameras, is welcome.

Blackwood Players produce major productions each year, across a wide range of styles and genres. They also run social events throughout the year. Workshops led by experienced theatre people have been offered, allowing participants to develop and polish acting and related skills.

A dedicated group of amateur wine and beer makers who meet monthly to discuss club matters, run club wine and beer competitions, have guest speakers and discuss various aspects of their homemade wines and beers. Members have the opportunity to discuss their methods, mistakes or even miracles with others, who collectively have decades of experience to share.

A gentle class which is designed to maintain strength, flexibility and balance of the body. Care is taken to ensure that postures are practised safely and modifications are offered where appropriate. The class also incorporates breathing techniques which help rejuvenate and relax. Visualisation and sound are also sometimes used to create a deeper sense of wellbeing.
